Admission
Requirements

Candidate must possess:
  1. A two-year or three-year university diploma plus credits in five (5) papers, including English Language and English Literature as well as at least a pass in Mathematics in the S.S,C.E. or G.C.E. ‘O’ Level or its equivalent, or
  2. Three (3) papers at Principal or Advanced level in the Higher School Certificate or G.C.E. or the JUPEP together with credit in five subjects including English Language and English Literature as well as at least a pass in Mathematics in the S.S.C.E. or G.C.E. ‘O’ Level or its equivalent, or
  3. Two (2) papers at principal or Advanced Level in the HSC or G.C.E. plus credits in five (5) other papers (including English Language and English Literature) as well as a pass in Mathematics in the S.S.C.E. or G,C.E. ‘O’ Level or its equivalent.
  4. At least a Merit level pass in University of Benin Diploma in any of the following:
    • Diploma in Law (D.I.L)
    • Diploma in Social Work (DSW)
    • Diploma in International Studies and Diplomacy (ISD).
  5. Diploma from other recognized University with at least an upper credit level pass in the areas listed above.
  6. Higher National Diploma with at least a lower credit Level pass from a recognized Polytechnic or College of Technology.
  7. Nigeria Certificate of Education (N.C.E.) with at least a credit pass in two subject areas from a recognized College of Education. In addition, candidates should have at least five credits in subjects including English and English Literature as well as at least a pass in Mathematics.
  8. A good degree of the University of Benin or any other recognized University not below Second Class (Lower Division). Such a degree holder must meet the SSCE or GCE `O’ Level requirements set out above.
  9. Candidates must, in addition, pass the Post Direct Entry Test.

Graduation
Requirements

The following regulations shall govern the conditions for the award of an honours degree.
  1. Candidates admitted through the Direct Entry mode shall have registered for a minimum of 120 and a maximum of 150 units of courses during a 4-year degree law programme.
  2. A student shall qualify for the award of a degree when the student has completed and passed all the courses registered for, including all compulsory courses and such elective /optional courses as may be specified by the university/faculty; obtained a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) set by the university but not less than 1.00 and earned the minimum credit units of not less than 150 for those that entered through Direct Entry.
